Angel Tree Gift Deadline

Thank you to all of those who picked an angel from the Activity Room door to brighten a resident's Christmas this year. Just a reminder to please return your Angel Tree gift in a gift bag with the angel attached by Friday, December 17th.

December Activity Highlight of the Month

This month the Activity Department would like to highlight our dedicated music groups, most of which not only come to our facility once a month but also take time out of their busy schedule to perform for the residents at our Assisted Living Facility.

The New Covenant Wesleyan Church Singers
who play gospel music for our residents on the 2nd Wednesday
of each month at 7:00 p.m. in our dining room;

The Henley Family
plays gospel music for the residents on the 3rd Friday
of each month at 7:00 p.m. in our dining room;

The Millstream Bluegrass Band
plays music for our residents on the 3rd Tuesday of
each month at 7:00 p.m. in our dining room;

The Joy Singers
play gospel music for the residents on the 4th Wednesday
of each month at 7:00 p.m. in our dining room.
They will not be performing in December.

Music is the one activity that touches everyone and we thank you
for your commitment and for sharing your talent without fail!

Angel Tree

The Angel Tree is now posted on the Activity Room door. Please stop by and pick up an angel. Our goal is one gift per resident. Please return your angel tree gift in a gift bag with the angel attached by Friday, December 17th.
Please help us spread the word.

Volunteer Wanda Linz

The highlighted volunteer of the month for November is Wanda Linz.

Wanda conducts a Reading Group once a month and a Poetry Group once a month. Wanda is a LifeVerse Poetry Facilitator with the Greensboro Public Library and coordinates the Pleasant Garden Community Readers Book Club. Each month she assists the residents in expressing themselves through poetry. The poem is published in the Clapp'er Yapp'er and posted on the bulletin board near our lobby. Below is their latest poem:

November
No more leaves beneath the trees;
Over is summer's green glow.
Victory sparks rise from the hearth;
Everything breathes the smoke.
Mountains fade, prepare for snow;
Bare is the once lively earth;
Everything grieves.
Rivers of memory flow slow.

Kids For Christ

Special thank you to "Kids For Christ" from the United Apostolic Church of Prayer. This youth group visited in October to do a craft activity with our residents and will be back Saturday, November 20th at 3:00 p.m. They also made colorful birthday cards for the residents who had an October birthday.

Successful Trick-or-Treat

Trick-or-Treat at Clapp's was a superb success! The residents and their families had a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word, brought their families, brought candy and participated in this event with their loved one!

Reminscing with Layman Cash

October's highlighted activity of the month is Reminiscing with Layman Cash.

Volunteer Layman Cash conducts this activity once a month for the resident's of Clapp's. He puts a great amount of effort into preparing for this activity and often enlists the help of friends to provide some live music to enhance his program. Each month the topic relates to what is going on in that particular season or the holiday. During the program, Mr. Cash shares his poetry and a few words of wisdom. Stop in some time to experience this wonderful program.
